We hiked the High Sierra Trail from Crescent Meadow trailhead to Bearpaw Meadow, we were in the backcountry for 5 days and 4 nights. We had planned to hike into the Kaweah Basin but ended up taking it easy ( 5 miles a day) and and napping alot. Oh well, it was supposed to be a vacation right? :-)

On the trail, Ilse views evidence of a past forest fire. |
Dusk falls quickly in the mountains, we were ready to find a place to camp for the night. |
Early the next morning I saw a half dozen deer feeding on the berries. Can you see the deer peeking around the tree looking a me taking her picture? |
Here is the above photo magnified, actually there are two deer in the photo. |
Along the trail near the Bearpaw camp.We did see a number of bears including a mother with two cubs. |

An awesome trail. |
Ferns mixed with Coast Paintbrush brighted the trail and provide a wonderful foreground. |

A lone hiker (Ilse) dwarfed by the immense scale of nature. |
An unexpected surprise, smoke from controlled burns being done by the forest service miles away. |
Makes me feel really small :-) |
See tiny Ilse kiking in the lower lefthand corner. |
White flowers: Cow Parsnip; Yellow: unknown |
The narrow trail runs between a sheer rock wall and a long sheer drop on the other. Notice the wildflower growing in the crack in the rock wall. |
Detail from previous picture. I am not sure but I think the flower may be a Scarlet Gilia. |
Lush greenery along a mountain stream. Flowers unknown. |
